Marvin A. Major of Vicksburg passed away March 3, 2014 in his home with family and friends present. Born September 29,1942, in Birmingham, AL to Nelson J. Major II and Katherine (Ross) Major. He was a '32 Master Mason of the Scottish Rite, Millwright, Sheet metal worker, Kalamazoo County Sheriff Reserve, along with many life long accomplishments for his community. He was well-traveled. His generosity went above and beyond to help anyone in need. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Virginia (Meeth) Major; four children, Arden Major, Brad (Sarah) Major, Stephanie Erdos, Becky (Ron) Glenn; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Nelson (Lu) Major and Marshall (Jan) Major, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Katherine (mother), Nelson (father), and James (brother). According to his wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life being held at the Kalamazoo County Masonic Lodge, 4371 W U Ave. Schoolcraft, MI starting at 2 PM Saturday, March 8, 2014. Contributions can be made in his name to South County Community Services in Vicksburg.
