Candy Carleton
January 13, 1943 - September 28, 2005
Candace E. Bump, age 62, of Plainwell, died peacefully September 28,
2005 at here home. She was born on January 13, 1943 in Kalamazoo, to
Russell and Rosemary (Walton) Carlton. Candace was a 1960 graduate of
Portage High School. Candace was a third generation member of the
P.E.O Sisterhood, and served several years as an advisor and assistant
for the Miss Martin and Miss Allegan County Pageants. She is survived
by her husband of 43 years, James; a son, Phillip (Tambra) Bump of
Florissant, MO; daughters, Karen (Craig) McCormick of Plainwell,
Kathleen (Robert) Lapekas of Evansville, IN; grandsons, Patrick and
Garrett McCormick, David and William Bump, and Jacob Lapekas;
brothers, Paul (Carolyn) Carlton of Overland Park, KS, Thomas (Susan)
Carlton of Skokie, IL; nieces, Martha Russell of Traverse City, Hannah
Carlton of Skokie, IL; step-mother, Meriel Carlton of Kalamazoo.
Candace was preceded in death by her parents; and a granddaughter,
Molly McCormick. A memorial service for Candace will be held in the
spring of 2006. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial
donations to the Wings of Hope Hospice of Allegan County or a hospice
